Maria Jo\u00e3o Bahia<\/strong><\/h1>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_single_image image=”18885″ img_size=”full” css=”” qode_css_animation=””][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1789144240226{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]I am the daughter of the sculptor Charters de Almeida, and I was born into the world of Art.<\/p>\n

This is not a metaphor; it is a memory. The smell of clay. The dust of stone. A house filled with models, open books, conversations that began seriously and ended in colour, music and laughter.
\nDuring my childhood, I had many experiences, many encounters. I grew up surrounded by artists. Sculptors, painters, musicians, dancers, musicians who tuned silence, architects who sketched the future on a napkin.<\/p>\n

It was there, in that sacred chaos, that I learned the first lesson of my life: everything that is beautiful requires time, risk and devotion.
\nJewellery came into my life the way love does. Without warning.
\nIt was passion. It was the desire to take something small and make it eternal.
\nSo I went to learn. Not at school. In the workshop.<\/p>\n

I sought out the \u201cmasters\u201d, those men who guard secrets as if they were relics and I went to work at Manuel Alcino\u2019s workshop in Porto.<\/p>\n

I was the only girl among dozens of master craftsmen. The sound of the lathe. The heat of the soldering flame. Metal taking shape beneath my hands. I learned chasing. I learned to respect the weight of the hammer. I learned that a perfect finish cannot be seen. It is felt.<\/p>\n

They laughed at me in the beginning. \u201cThis is not for girls.\u201d But I was not there to please anyone. I was there because I could not imagine living without it.
\nEvery large piece we completed was a quiet victory. And every secret they shared with me was a gift.<\/p>\n

Later, at the Raul Ferreira workshop, I met a master who saw something in me beyond stubbornness. He saw determination. And he taught me everything. Without holding anything back. Without fear.
\nHe taught me that technique without soul is merely mechanics. And that soul without technique cannot endure.<\/p>\n

Only much later did my own brand come into being.
\nBecause a brand is not created. It happens. It emerges when you can no longer keep inside what you carry within you.
\nAnd it is difficult. Very difficult.<\/p>\n

Because a brand is consistency when no one is watching. It is identity when the market is shouting at us to be the same. It is creativity when we feel we have already done everything. It is honesty when it would be easier to lie.
\nAnd above all, it is acceptance. It is the world saying: \u201cYes, this speaks to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout more than 40 years of work, I have had the privilege of taking on projects that kept me awake at night. Pieces born from a drawing, from an idea at three in the morning. Collections that demanded months of silence. Challenges that made me grow, cry and start again.
\nPeople often ask me: \u201cMaria Jo\u00e3o, where does your creativity come from?\u201d
\nI fall silent and smile, because the truth is, I do not know how to explain it.
\nI call it grace. I call it God. I call it mystery.
\nCreativity cannot be commanded. It visits us. And when it comes, we have to be ready, with clean hands and an open heart, prepared to work hard for it.
\nIf we think about it, perhaps this is what living is: an unreal reality.
\nWe move between what we dream of and what we can touch. Between gold and the idea of gold.<\/p>\n

The shop on Avenida da Liberdade has closed. For reasons that life imposes and that we cannot control.
\nBecause a shop is not merely a window display. It is history. Many, many stories.
\nIt is customers who became friends. It is strangers who leave us with incredible memories and take memories with them for life. It is dreams that come true in other people\u2019s lives and in ours.
\nThose were wonderful years, filled with unforgettable moments.
\nBut the end of one chapter is always the beginning of another.<\/p>\n

Today, I am creating a new world.
\nA different, more intimate project, where the experience of the unknown becomes more surprising.
\nMy home and my work are no longer separate. They coexist.
\nI want to welcome people not into a shop window, but into an experience.
\nI want them to come in, sit down, have a cup of tea, and try on a piece as one might experience a memory.
\nI do not simply sell jewellery. I do not simply sell silver
\nI offer experience. I offer time. I offer exclusivity.
\nBecause true luxury is no longer about having.
\nTrue luxury is about being.
\nIt is a moment that only that person will experience.
\nIt is a piece that only they will wear.
\nIt is the story that each of us carries.<\/p>\n
